VIDEO 2020

The Corona Virus descended upon the world.  Borders closed and flights were cancelled.  As our AIR/HMC, Budapest, Environmental & BookArt exhibition, and MiniArtVideoFest (MAVF) was scheduled for August-September, 2020 at Bartok1 Gallery, Budapest, the situation continues to worsen and borders are still closed.  We have decided to make a virtual show for the artists.  We will miss being together in person this year.  We thank our galleries, partners, collectors and community and look forward to the future.  Please see our virtual exhibition.  With warmest regards, Beata Szechy, HMC

Airlocks

1: 06

2019
Original Format: 1920 x 1080 HD

Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/304905452

What is the difference between music and sound? We hear rhythm in the sound of rain and crashing waves, but is music found or only made?

Can inanimate objects make music, or does it take the intervention of life?

In Airlocks, I use kinetic glass apparatus as instruments for music. Beginning with dissonant beats, the video slowly becomes musical as rhythms align. Characters develop as the anthropomorphized airlocks have a conversation.

Disintegrants

This film imagines a form of portraiture in which the body is absent, focused on the theme of transition and transformation as we exist in an environment to which we must constantly adjust and adapt.

Disintegrants is a looped video animation created in collaboration with Britt King.
